Posted on Latest News by T Hastie · August 27, 2017 7:41 AMMandurah in Western Australia is to be the third and final location to trial drug testing of new job seekers.Minister for Social Services, Christian Porter, made the announcement today, joined by Member for Canning, Andrew Hastie.From 1 January 2018, the two-year Drug Testing Trial across three locations will test a total of 5,000 new recipients of Newstart Allowance and Youth Allowance (other) for illicit substances including ice (methamphetamine), ecstasy (MDMA) and marijuana (THC).Read more -
Local Drug Action Team Applications Now Open
Posted on Latest News by T Hastie · June 14, 2017 2:23 PMThe second round of applications are now open for local organisations to join the Turnbull Government’s Local Drug Action Team program.
Community groups across Australia are joining forces to deliver targeted local action to help tackle drug use and addiction.
“We need to work together to fight meth and other drugs doing so much harm to individuals, families and our community,” said Mr Hastie.
The program is an initiative under the Turnbull Government’s four year, $298 million investment to reduce the harms of drugs and alcohol.
