JOINT STATEMENT
ANZAC DAY 2024
Thursday 25 April 2024
For over a century, Australians have served across the world protecting our freedom, our democracy, and our way of life.
Anzac Day is a sacred day for all Australians.
It marks the moment when 16,000 Australian and New Zealand troops landed, under fire, on the shores of Gallipoli on 25 April, 1915.
It was the first time our troops had ever gone into combat as one people.
This Anzac Day, we remember and honour the brave soldiers, sailors and airmen who have defended Australia in war and peace, and those who continue to do so.
Australia enjoys freedom and prosperity today because those men and women were prepared to fight when the call came.
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.
