Media Release: Another Year Of Delay At Peel Health Campus

HON ANDREW HASTIE MP

FEDERAL MEMBER FOR CANNING

SHADOW MINISTER FOR HOME AFFAIRS

MEDIA RELEASE

ANOTHER YEAR OF DELAY AT PEEL HEALTH CAMPUS

13 August 2025

Federal Member for Canning Andrew Hastie MP has slammed the WA Labor Government for their failure to deliver promised upgrades at Peel Health Campus, exactly one year after the hospital transitioned back into public hands.

On 13 August 2024, Peel Health Campus officially returned to the South Metropolitan Health Service following the conclusion of its contract with Ramsay Health Care.

But twelve months later, Mr Hastie says the community has seen no improvements.

“It’s been 365 days since Peel Health Campus came under public control, and there’s still been no upgrades, no redevelopment, no change,” Mr Hastie said.

“My office continues to receive daily reports from locals who’ve had shocking experiences at Peel Health Campus.

“The lack of progress by the WA Government is a public disgrace.”

Despite repeated commitments from WA Labor, the 2025–26 State Budget failed to allocate any new funding for the hospital’s redevelopment.

Mr Hastie said it was telling that Labor’s own Member for Mandurah, Rhys Williams MLA, publicly admitted that the previously committed $152 million is not enough to complete the project.

“WA Labor has been promising these upgrades for more than eight years,” Mr Hastie said.

“One year in public hands is enough time to deliver—instead, we’ve continued to see delay after delay.”

Mr Hastie’s petition calling on the State Government to fix Peel Health Campus has now attracted 5,480 signatures.
