LOCAL MP SLAMS WA PREMIER ON IV FLUID SHORTAGE
Federal Member for Canning Andrew Hastie MP has launched a sharp critique on the WA Labor Government following revelations of a nationwide shortage of intravenous fluids that is causing significant disruptions across Western Australia, with many clinics being forced to cancel procedures.
Both the Australian Medical Association WA and the Therapeutic Goods Administration have confirmed the shortage; however, WA Premier Roger Cook and the WA Department of Health have made the strange claim that there have been no disruptions to any WA hospitals or health procedures.
Mr Hastie said that Mr Cook’s comments were just another example of the WA Premier being completely out of touch with the reality faced by healthcare providers and patients across the state.
“Time and time again, the WA Labor Government has failed the people of WA,” Mr Hastie said.
“When will the Premier admit the WA health system is not fit for purpose?
“We’re now at the point where people in our community are being denied access to basic medical supplies, and it’s seriously concerning.”
Mr Hastie called on the WA Labor Government to acknowledge the problem and work collaboratively with agencies to resolve it.
“This situation is unacceptable, and the Premier’s incompetence is putting lives on the line,” Mr Hastie said.
“The Premier must stop downplaying the issue and take action to ensure our clinics and hospitals are fully equipped to care of patients.”
