KARNUP TRAIN STATION LEFT OFF THE MAP—AGAIN

20 June 2025

Federal Member for Canning Andrew Hastie MP has slammed the Cook Labor Government’s 2025-26 State Budget for once again failing to deliver funding for the long-overdue Karnup Train Station.

Despite repeated promises by Labor dating back to 2015, the Budget handed down by Treasurer Rita Saffioti yesterday includes no funding—not even a mention—of the proposed train station.

Mr Hastie said it was another broken promise and a clear sign the Labor Government is ignoring the needs of the growing suburbs of Karnup, Singleton, and Golden Bay.

“Labor wants the community to forget this promise they made a decade ago. But we haven’t forgotten—and neither have local residents,” Mr Hastie said.

“Our community is growing fast. A train station at Karnup would ease pressure on nearby stations, reduce traffic congestion, and cut commute times for local families. It’s a no-brainer.”

Mr Hastie is calling on the WA Government to stop stalling and commit to building the station without further delays.

“Our community deserves better. If Labor doesn’t deliver, we’ll keep fighting to push for what we were promised.”
