Commonwealth Scholarships now open

for young Australians in Armadale

Young Australians and veterans in the Armadale and Gosnells can now apply for scholarships of up to $13,000 to cover the costs of an eligible vocational education and training (VET) qualification and internship.

Round Four of the Morrison Government’s Commonwealth Scholarships Program for Young Australians is now open, with up to $5,000 on offer per year for up to two years, along with an additional $3,000 for eligible applicants who also complete a 20-day paid internship.

Member for Canning Andrew Hastie said the program is a great opportunity for people in Armadale looking to upskill and get job ready.

“This program offers a helping hand to young people across Armadale, including in the Roleystone community.”

“Eligible areas for applications include health care, construction and scientific services.”

“The Morrison Government is spending $7.1 billion across the country to help people build their skills and training - this program is just one part of that investment.”

“Providing these opportunities is a win-win-win for young workers, local communities and the Australian economy.”

Young people aged 15-24 years old are eligible for a scholarship but must not be in full-time work or study at the time of applying and intend on taking an eligible VET qualification from Certificate III through to an Advanced Diploma.

Host employers can receive $1,500 per intern hosted, with Armadale one of ten regions in Australia to benefit from the program.

The program was recently expanded to include those who have transitioned from the Australian Defence Force in the past two years.
