Statement: Labor Continues To Sit On The Defence Estate Audit
THE HON ANDREW HASTIE MP
SHADOW MINISTER FOR DEFENCE
SHADOW MINISTER FOR DEFENCE INDUSTRY
SHADOW MINISTER FOR DEFENCE PERSONNEL
FEDERAL MEMBER FOR CANNING
STATEMENT
LABOR CONTINUES TO SIT ON THE DEFENCE ESTATE AUDIT
Wednesday 28 August 2024
Today marks one year since the Albanese Government’s Defence Estate Audit began, yet the report remains unactioned on the Deputy Prime Minister’s desk.
It has now taken Labor twice the amount of time to consider the recommendations—handed down last December—than it did for the independent leads to conduct the inquiry and finalise the report.
The Albanese Government is weak and slow in making national security decisions.
Instead of making the tough calls, Labor ponders over lengthy reviews with the indecision of Hamlet.
Richard Marles should action the Defence Estate Audit and release his recommendations immediately.
